Last Saturday, StyleCon for the first time was in Dallas! Years past they have only had one even in Orange County, CA. Why Dallas? Who knows, but it definitely does make it more accessible to everyone in the entire DFW area (which is the size of Connecticut) Overall? I enjoyed it and getting to meet up with other bloggers and meet vendors, but there were some huge disappointments about it.
The setup was great and they definitely thought through so many details - including great backdrops for photos and perfect lighting (no fluorescent lighting!). The line to get in for badges and for bag was run smoothly.
The vendors were so friendly to talk to and were so generous to us bloggers. But the majority of vendors were skincare and makeup. And for a STYLEcon there was a lack of local clothing stores, boutiques, accessories, etc. There were some, but not enough.
For me the main thing I was disappointed about was the fact that it was one room, and you could hardly hear the speakers and panels, unless you were super close to the stage. But that was really hard, because there was hardly seating and people were saving them in between talks. There should have been at least triple the seating and the stage should have been in a separate room.
They even got a geo-tag on snapchat! And look at the crazy amount of goodies that I left with. The walk to my car was torture, as the bag was digging into my shoulder.
Honestly, I really did enjoy it, but hopefully they will take everyones feedback of the even to make it even better next year.
XOXO,
Suzanne Marie
