Honestly, the most annoying thing was because we were no longer on campus, that meant no free laundry (and yes I have a whole story about laundry) and no great quite place to go study. The last week definitely pushed us to the limit and man were we ready for Greece!
You are probably wondering how on earth I could have story about laundry and why it it that important? Wellll I do. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 It starts out with me having done all of my laundry the night before we left for five day. When we got back to Rome, we were staying in the middle of Rome, rather than on the campus (where we had all the free washing machines!) So about half way through the final week, I literally ran out of everything clean (some had been worn multiple times already. Yuck!)
After asking the lady at the front desk where the closest laundry mat was, I ran down there with my duffle bag stuffed with all my clothes (after not listening to one of my friends, who suggested to go and see it first). Oh and at this point I was wearing one of my roommates exercise outfits, that way I could wash everything. I got there and the power was out! But the lady who ran it said Oh they are working on it and it should be on in 30 minutes to an hour.... and I could just leave my things there and come back in two hours, to get it all washed.....
Well that's exactly what I did and two hours later, the power was still off and I was no closer to clean clothes than I was two hours ago. So completely exhausted and frustrated (I'm still a little pissed that the program hadn't thought of a better solution, especially for the ones going to Greece. I mean there was no way we would have enough clothes to last us almost three weeks.), I walked back to my room and proceed to hand wash my entire wardrobe in the tiny bathroom for the next hour and a half... then hung them all over the room to dry. It was quite a sight for sure, but what else could I have done?
The next morning they still were not dry, so I had to turn off the AC in our room and open the windows. Basically, I ended up wearing the same outfit for over 24 hours while trying to get clean clothes. 😂 Random I know, but hey it happened.
The last Sunday we were in Rome, most of us tried to attend Mass at the Vatican. I actually went earlier with V, so we could go to confession, then Mass and then right afterward, outside, we got to say the Angelus with Pope Francis.
