Going from one thing to the next, this year has been full of surprises, ups and downs... Lots of fun memories and a few not so great ones.
2013 // Goals and Accomplishments
Attended the March 4 Life up in Washington D.C. - January 24-27, I had the privilege of joining Mrs. Laux's group to D.C. It was the third year in a row, I was able to go. This time I had the opportunity of also going to the Students For Life of America's (SFLA) conference. LOVE IT! Meet one of the sweetest girls during the trip!
Participated in a Magazine Photo Shoot - One of my High School classmates is the Executive Editor for Shine and Soar, a magazine that she and three other girls started. They released the Intro Issue on New Years Eve 2013. Sarah was looking for some models and ask me if I would be interested, the rest is history... (Look for me in the Spring 2013 Issue, their first official issue! & here.) It was tons of fun + I got to meet several other sweet girls. (Oh & they even made a video!)
Prom - I got to attend the Texas Christian Homeschool Prom! My senior prom!! (My first, and last, one.) The TCHP is a super big deal, they had over 1,500 people there, not counting all the volunteers. The theme was Indiana Jones, so it was pretty cool, although I am a bit jealous because I just found out that next year, 2014, it's theme is based on the Hobbit! (Thinking about trying to volunteer for it!!)
Graduated from High School - The day after prom, graduation down at Church! Oh do I have a story to tell about that day, but that's for another time... Other than my feet killing me, it was very sweet ceremony and I really enjoyed it.
Got my Drivers Licence - Finally!! This is one that should have happened a couple of years ago, but better late than never, right?
I turned 18! - Here's to being an Adult!
Was a Nanny for a road trip - Very interesting experience, the main down falls were not being home for my birthday, Mothers day, and for the May Crowning down at Church. But I got to spend quite a bit of time with three sweeties.
Last Piano Recital - Bitter Sweet. My duet with Whitney ended up horrid!! But my solo piece was 'I See the Light' from Tangled. Very pretty piece! Love that song!!
Road Trip to the Grand Canyon with my family - 8 days, five states! We went to Sky City, Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Monument Valley, Painted Desert, Durango - Silverton (Railroad), Santa Fe... Just to name a few! :D
Week with my Cousin - My favorite cousin got to come down in June for my Graduation party, so we decided to "explore Fort Worth" while she was here. We when to the Stockyards, Ft. Worth Zoo (ranked in the top 5 of the nation!!), Texas Rangers Game, we went to see Monsters University and of course shopping! I also hosted a Tea Party, because she wanted to meet some of my friends.
Pay Check - Got my first official pay check! It was for working for Stella Maris Books & Gifts on their website.
Weekly Babysitting Jobs - For the past five months I have had about 19 jobs each month. (October winning with 26!) At one point I had 4 weekly jobs. That kept me pretty busy!! We shall see what happens after I start College classes...
iPhone - Upgraded my little Nokia to an iPhone 4S. Finally a smartphone!
First Car Crash - No one got hurt, thank goodness! I was backing out Whitney's SUV and as I was going down her driveway I bumped into a parked car... a parked car... In my defense I did check the mirrors, yet somehow I never saw it. So there went $500...
TOMS - For Christmas I got my first pair of TOMS! Too cute! I got the Classics in Rose Gold Glitter! (Yes, I know this really is not a big accomplishment, but I'm really enjoying them & I really like the fact that they give a pair away for each one purchased. One for one.)
Got My First Car - *squeal* 2005 Honda CR-V in White! Got it the day after Christmas! So I haven't had it very long, however I'm loving it already. It's really nice to have my own set of wheels.
I'm definitely seeing a car theme going on... :D Thinking back over the year it always amazes me as to just how much has happened, and just how much will happen in the coming years. And no matter how much we plan, we will never be truly prepared for it all. In conclusion, God has granted me tons of blessings and it has been a pretty wonderful year! Hope y'all's has been the same!
XOXO,
Suzanne Maire
