Normally I believe one would have a post like this a week later for the new year, however as I was running back and forth through the house, a couple of flashbacks hit me like a ton of bricks. Now as most people get "older" the years go by faster, and while this was true for 2018, I must say it has gone by in such a way that stuff that happened only months ago, literally feel like a forever ago.

Contrary to how many in society view the industry - fashion is art. And because of my unique fashion sense growing up, I thoroughly enjoyed the few fashion classes I took in college. I have been wanting to create this series for years... and well, finally decided to follow my gut. Hope you enjoy learning about the elements and principles of fashion design.
I know I've already posted several blogs on my oh so wise college advice, but due to several recent adventures, I figured I can't share advice enough. College has been a huge learning curve. I could have used someone to show me the ropes starting out; I'm grateful to have been able help out a few friends and siblings.
Because I had a lot of free time this semester, my mom and I spent the first three months of this year (2018), slowly going room to room deep cleaning like we have never done before. We started in an attic, that has never been deep cleaned in my life. Some relatives came over one weekend to help clean out our storage room and garage. We sorted stuff, threw stuff out, donated, and created a garage sale pile for the neighborhood garage sale that was at the beginning of April. We are still going through stuff - just a few days ago, my mom and I went through piles and piles of music books (my grandma and great grandma taught piano lessons).
As I am sure y'all are aware, at the end of last month, Joanna Gaines released her cookbook, Magnolia Table. It was on my birthday wishlist every since she announced it coming out this spring. Randomly on launch day, my mom and I ran into target and naturally they had a big display right in front, plus they had it on sale (score!!), so my mom asked if I'd like it as an early b-day present. LOL, yess!
It is always a good time for a brunch with your girlfriends. Normally we have some sort of workshop and this time there was suppose to have a lady come and teach poses (you know arm on hip and duck faces are out), but she had to cancel last minute. But honestly, it was so nice to have a low key lunch together. Plus I got to carpool with another blogger from the Fort Worth area, so we got to chat a bunch on the way there and back.
Have you ever been in a season of life, where you are literally just going through the motions? For me, in the past six years, I have on and off been doing that. It is so hard to keep up the momentum and push though. But life just goes on, it does not matter who you are or what is going on in your life, there is no way of stopping it. So floating and drifting it is, but there is only so much of that one can do.
Last week I posted a quick recap of the Style Collective Conference in Raleigh, NC. I had way too much fun and learned so much; in fact I'm still trying to process everything! And as promised here are my top six takeaways from the #SCCon18!!! Hopefully, one of them (or all), will help you on your blogging journey!
