Exfoliator Life

Anyone who is into skincare knows exactly how important it is to exfoliate your skin. It goes outside of your daily skincare routine, but is super important not to forget it! I am going to break down several different ways you can do this and the nice thing is because it is not a daily thing, you only have to do it once or twice a week!

So Mary Kay has several different ways one can go about exfoliating your face: Cleaner, Microdermabrasion, and the new Facial Peel.

First is to have a light exfoliator in your daily cleanser - such as the TimeWise 3-1 Cleanser or using a good facial cleansing brush. And by using a brush daily, this helps clean, and remove makeup ...x better than just by washing by hand. So not only are you getting a light exfoliant, you are making sure your face is free of the makeup, dirt, and oil from the day.

But you should be using something that goes even further two-three times a week, and this would include a Microdermabrasion or Facial Peel. Just remember anything that says scrub on it, should not go on your face; they are great for your hands and feet, but not your face! (I was totally guilty of using St. Ives Apricot Scrub as my cleanser, but it is a scrub!) The main reason we say this is your face has some of the most delicate skin on your body and scrubs are usually super harsh with bigger chunks and they chip away at your skin instead of working with it.

So everyday and a half we shed a complete layer of skin, and this causes two things to happen: skin becomes uneven and wrinkles look more pronounced and you have a higher chance of acne, because bacteria feeds off of dead skin cells. So the Microdermabrasion come in and strips your face of the dead skin. This Microderm is perfectly round, so it works against your face like waves beating against rocks (which always end up smooth!).

So while the Microderm is a physical exfoliator, the TimeWise Repair Revealing Radiance Facial Peel goes deeper, just without the physical feel of exfoliating. This Facial Peel uses glycolic acid that removes the dead skin on the top surface. But then it goes several layers down and helps to break apart bonds connecting other dead cells so they can be released and this helps encourage new ones to grow - thus fresher, younger looking skin. This peel is paired with marine extras to help hydrate, so your face won't get dried out while using it and with botanical extracts, for a calming affect, that way it can be used twice a week.

In the photo above (I apologize that it is a little fuzzy) it shows the difference in how the products exfoliate. And no that is not the reaction to human skin, it shows an exaggerated example on a cantaloupe.
Bottom Left is the Skinvigorate Brush, next is the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Plus Set and then on the bottom right is the TimeWise Repair Radiance Revial Facial Peel.
