Oh man where to begin? Sew Caroline has done it again, created another one-of-a-kind pattern. The Picnic Skirt can be dressed up or down, perfect for day or night! Ahh, I love absolutely everything about this skirt, starting with the name, the high waist, zipper, & a subtle high/low hem. The way the skirt flow, & swishes, it's perfect! I have already made three, & I'm not stopping there! 😆 This is definitely my favorite skirt pattern!!
Okay, so first off, toward the end of June, I "applied" to test either Sew Caroline's Picnic Skirt or Waterfall Tank. I totally wasn't excepting to get pick, I was hoping to, but really didn't think I would. So when I received the email I was shocked, and sooooo ecstatic!
When I got the pattern, I could not wait to try it out, so first things first, material! Mom & I went on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Cabbage Rose (an adorable little shop full of the prettiest light-weight cotton material ever!) I chose Aqua Garden in the Girly Girl collection by Pat Bravo (Art Gallery Fabrics). Got it washed and cut out that night. Then I put it all together the next day, over all it was a pretty easy make.
I, personally, only had a little trouble with the waistband and the zipper. (I had the same trouble with the waistband while making all three skirts, finally on the third one I put a basting seam all the way across the top of the skirt, then attached the skirt.) I will be honest, had I known about the zipper, I don't think I wouldn't have even applied to test this pattern! I had never done a zipper before, but it ended up so much easier than I could have ever imagined!! So I am glad I did it! So don't let that stop you, conquer those fears!

Now the second one is made out of a light chambray I found at Joann's in the clearance pile. After making it, I was afraid it looked like an old-fashioned school girl skirt, but it's growing on me. (I suppose it's appropriate that I wore it at a homeschool conference recently.)

Finally the third one is made from Wild Beauty Pineapple part of the Rapture collection by Pat Bravo (Art Gallery Fabrics). This one I LOVE! There are so many different colors I can 'pull out' from the skirt to play with.
XOXO,
Suzanne Marie
