Zyn22

I should have known better. It's been close to two years since taking any kind of fitness class or really doing a hard core workout. Anyway, a blogger that I met at the Dallas Stylecon, invited me to join her in a free Zyn22 class. All I knew was it was a spin class. That's it - I knew it involved bikes. Haha. I was in for a rude awakening.

Got there just in time (traffic and parking were devils), to get my stuff in the locker, use the restroom ( I would have literally died in the class if there wasn't enough time for this), and get the special bike shoes on, which I had no idea why we needed them. Oh and can I just say she had said to bring socks and water. In my rush to get into the class, I left my water in my car (great place for it right?) and had grabbed not my workout socks, but my barre socks. And if you know what those are, you know I just added to the pain of what was to happen (they are socks with grippies on the bottom - for activities on mats, so you do not slip).

The lady who got me locked into the bike, did not adjust the height right and I had no clue how to get my shoes unhooked, so I could change it. So again, added to the pain. Imagine, being strapped to a bike for 45 minutes with your legs slightly stretched out, because the seat is just a little bit too high.

Okay, so let me back up just a little bit. I was use to going to barre classes where it's bright and comforting. Zyn22 was dark and dramatic and loud. Haha, so almost as soon as we started, I was in pain. It was fast paced, but you could go at your own speed (but it wouldn't match the tempo of the music). Loved the fact that while it was dark, they literally lit the mood with candles on the stage and that they make it warm inside, so it really got you sweating.

For the next 45 minutes, I was telling myself I would not die and trying to ignore the fact that it was hot and I did not have any water. As soon as it was over, I had to get use to walking (haha, it's almost like have sea legs).

So that was Thursday evening, on Friday I had to go to my nanny job and naturally my legs were sore. But over the course of the weekend, it slowly got worse, to where on Sunday, I was in tears trying to get in my car. Haha, so my mom drove me over the the urgent care and the doctor said they were both extremely inflamed, because I should have been icing them for the past three days and hadn't. By Tuesday it was so much better. Haha, but the doctor said no one should just jump into a class like that without slowly getting use to a workout of that kind, by 15 minute increments.

Even though I actually came out of the class with almost damaged thigh muscles, I hope I have the opportunity to head back there in the future.

XOXO,
Suzanne Marie
